Welcome to the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission

If you have been convicted of a crime in a Scottish court and you believe that a miscarriage of justice may have occurred in respect of that conviction or in relation to the sentence imposed then the Commission may be able to assist in reviewing your case.  We usually require that you have exhausted the normal appeals process before applying to the Commission.  If you feel that the Commission can assist, you should request an application form from us using the contact details below or download an application form.

SCCRC Research Project

During 2008-09 the Commission undertook its first research project into cases which it had referred in its first ten years.  The project was undertaken independently by a team of researchers from the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, with the summary of the main findings being presented at the Commission's 10th Anniversary Conference on 29 April 2009.  At the conference the Commission's Chairman, Mrs Jean Couper CBE, announced that the final report would be published via the Commission's website and this is now available to download using the following link:  SCCRC - Research Project Report.

Over the coming months the Commission will be analysing the findings from this project more fully and is keen to take on board feedback from interested parties.  If you would like to make any comment on the research project and report please e-mail research@sccrc.org.uk.
